Hi, In Holland MusicNet distributors went bankrupt some months ago. MusicNet came out of Dureco, and were distributing/ representing Tzadik in Holland. Rumours went, that they were emptying the building. Last month, I heard this from a friend of mine. I did not believe this, until I finally got my hands on more than 110 Tzadik titles for 8 euros each from a friendly retailer. This collection included some recent 'Oracle' and 'Lunatic Fringe' titles. Suffice to say that I am close to bankruptcy now, too;-) Tzadik New York didn't know anything about these sell outs, and ofcourse, feel betrayed by their European/ Dutch distribution partner. I have e-mailed Tzadik to inform them about the large sales on the North Sea Jazz Festival last week (going under 7 euros in some shops). In the coming months, we can expect cheap Tzadik titles coming out of unexpected corners. 'Sales' can come from anyone who attended the MusicNet auction, and bought some of the large parcels with unnumbered cd-boxes. Not all of them contain Tzadik titles, there's Omnitone in there, Dutch audiophile label Turtle Records, and other non-jazz related labels. Ofcourse it is cool to be able to choose obscure titles for little money, but I fear that we will have to do without any new Dutch Tzadik distributor, now the market shortly will be 'flooded' with cheap discounts from the back catalogue. I haven't the faintest clue about the size of the stock in the old distribution center. As I said, the auction happened with all cd-boxes closed, to be sold in large 'non marked' parcels.
