Golly,
Well I'd say that you are covering the bases pretty well on your own. I think that plenty of people into rockabilly shy away from the "country" side of it and are into the "rockish" side of it...but my take is from a country/hillbilly slant. Of course the Hasil Adkins has long been a favorite of our main feller on this list, re: the radio show disc.
First: Hear Harmonica Frank Floyd...his "Swamp Root" is equally demented as Hasil, and has great, um..."yodelling", if you want to call it that.
I LOVE:
The Collins Kids. "Whistle Bait" and others Ronnie Dawson, whose "Rockin' Bones" them Cramps covered. Charlie Feathers...get the Revenant records comp.
If yer new to Rockabilly, the two discs on Columbia "Whistle Bait" and "Ain't I'm A Dog" are real good, despite the shitty covers. They aren't a "greatest hits" but have great songs like Johnny Horton's "Honky Tonk Hardwood Floor" and the Maddox Brothers's "Ugly and Slouchy" The cheapo Disky Label has a series of comps called "Red Hot Rockabilly" that cover a lot of ground.
Oh, and Joe Clay's "Duck Tail"

Recently I feel into the deep hole of what is called Rockibilly. It started off by buying a Cramps album - which I became immediately passionate about and purchased practically their whole catalogue - that lead to the Elvis Sun sessions, the first RCA album. I got the first two Gene Vincent albums on capital - got the Sonny Burgess 'We Wanna Boogie' (which I haven't listened to yet) and purchased a cd called 'Out to Hunch' by Hasil Adkins.
The Hasil Adkins cd is by far the most demented music I have heard...so far! I am wondering if anyone on the list can recommend any other lunatic rockibilly recordings or just really good classic stuff. I also got the Burnette Trio, which is great. -- Tosh Berman TamTam Books http://www.tamtambooks.com
