Any good, interesting recommendations for music to listen to when you are under stress? Thanks. Zach

I don't see any Zorn stuff... definitively not Painkiller...
Curiously, depending on the stress I'm under, I can find that Painkiller and Naked City with Eye *do* help me relax. (I guess it's like, "Hey--someone understands!") I've actually been listening to NC a lot lately, although I loaned _Execution Ground_ to my drummer, so I'm kinda missing that right now. At the moment, it's the Pavement _Slanted & Enchanted_ reissue. For going the opposite way--say, relaxing with the feeling of being comforted--I'll turn to La Monte Young's _Well Tuned Piano_, Charlie Haden and Hampton Hawes's _As Long As There's Music_. A local promoter just gave me Thomas Köner's Kaamos, which is dark ambient bordering on lowercase that I find very, very relaxing. It may not be meant that way, but it does it for me. This is the first Köner I've heard, and it's really good--any other recommendations, folks? Otherwise, some Tortoise works for me, Nick Drake, the Dirty Three, Polvo...but also keep in mind that I'm the guy who relaxes to Painkiller. -- Maurice Rickard http://mauricerickard.com/

------------------------------------------------------ Hi, for good relaxing moments ,you can try with David Darling "Journal October" probably my favourite for that relax moments, I highly reccommend it. Or you can try with the Mozart's Requiem, or in other way any of Ravi Shankar. But sometimes I think , the best way to combat the stress is with more stressing music till you get exhausted, music in the way of naked city or another brutal things. That's not a joke, sometimes really works. You try. I suppose there are many different approaches to this problem. My strategy would be to do ten yoga sun salutations while listening to Rapoon's Khirgiz Light or Fallen Gods or the slower Divination releases by Laswell. That pretty much takes care of it for me.
My choices are usually Brian Eno's 'Music for Airports' or Chitti Babu's 'Art of the Veena, Vol. 2.' Steve Smith ssmith36@sprynet.com NP - Swans, "I Am the Sun," 'Swans Are Dead' (Young God)
