I'd say that a number of Jack Kerouac's works would fit the bill here. Some other favorites: - Geoff Nicholson "Flesh Guitar" (a personal favorite) - James S. Rich "Cut My Hair" - Bill Flanagan "A&R" (savagely funny) - Tom Perrotta "The Wishbones" - Jack Fuller "The Best of Jackson Payne" (good mystery book) - Mark Shipper "Paperback Writer" (hilarious and sadly out of print, I think) Some would say that Albert Goldman was a fiction writer too (and not a good one either).
