here´s a short review of last weekend´s festival in the austrian mountains: best five performances in no particular order: Louis Sclavis Napoli´s Walls: the best band he ever had Bugge Wesseltoft New Conceptions Of Jazz: groovy and danceable - highly recommended Tim Berne Clownfinger w/ Marc Ducret: complex music played on a high level Mephista (Susie Ibarra - Sylvie Courvoisier - Ikue Mori): perfect interplay Roberto Rodriguez El Danzon De Moises w/ David Krakauer and special guest Susie Ibarra: nice presentation of his Cuban-Klezmer stuff others worth to mention: Billy Bang Vietnam - The Aftermath: interesting project but unfortunately with an indisposed and uninspired Frank Lowe Fast ´n Bulbous w/ Gary Lucas: Captain Beefheart project superb arranged by Phillip Johnston Daniel Humair Quartet w/ Ellery Eskelin: one of europe´s best drummers in a really good shape Sussan Deyhim Madman Of God: not perfect but interesting for me to see her for the first time dissapointments: John Scofield, Eric Truffaz Andreas np: Spanish Fly - Fly By Night _________________________________________________________________ Testen Sie MSN Messenger für Ihren Online-Chat mit Freunden: http://messenger.msn.de
