Any comments on the latest album from Bill Frisell? "The Intercontinentals" Personally, I think it's some of his best work in a long time... -Theo __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo. http://search.yahoo.com
I'm enjoying the new one as well. Best studio disc since Good Dog, Happy Man, although anyone hoping for a return to the classic trio or 'band' days (i.e., core trio of frisell/driscoll/baron) won't find it here. Instead we have lots of vamping with what I suppose are solos swelling up from the dense tapestry of noise. There are some atypical scales (for frisell) used, apparently due to the input of the oud player, but otherwise the overall style continues the trend began with nashville or gone, just like a train (or maybe 'quartet'). The album holds together much better than the long rambling unfocused set they played at the Barbican in London last spring. -whit On Fri, 2 May 2003, Theo Klaase wrote:
