Cecil Taylor's "2Ts for a Lovely T"
Hello folks, I'm wondering whether anyone here on the Zorn list has the "2Ts" set and would give it a good recommendation. I'm sure the music is great, but the price is pretty steep. I'm torn between getting this set or the Jimmy Lyons box set on Ayler Records and saving a few bucks (or, actually, just buying more music). Also, did they ever fix the problem with the "2Ts" set? I have heard that the music on discs 2 and 7 was identical, even though the discs were labeled differently. Thanks for your help, everyone. The disc troubles were fixed, and if you have any sense at all, you'll buy both these sets yesterday. Both are exceptional. Review on the Lyons box in the new CADENCE, and I just put it up for the CTaylor Research Group here: http://www.velocity.net/~bb10k/LYONS/Lyons.html You'll be glad to be broke for awhile! Thanks for the info, Mr. Lopez. I appreciate it. I'm leaning toward the "2Ts" set for now, since it is more costly and matches the exact number of coins that I can spend. It might be awhile before I have this much cash to spend on a single purchase. (I'm already on "probation" for spending $200 last month on updating my CT and Braxton collections. My lady friend, instead of trying to reform my spending habits, is being very understanding about letting me spend more another $200 so soon.) I'm probably going to have to wait until late February for the Lyons set. I'm worried about the limited production run, though. I'm hoping it will still be around. FWIW I'm pretty sure the Taylor box is limited edition, and it's been out for a while now (about a year and a half). That plus it's an import on a very obscure label would sway me towards getting it first. But yeah get them both asap. 8*) --Frank
