Just read in a French magazine that the KF is opening a club in Paris. Has the financial situation of the KF improved so much that they can open a new place in Paris, where the situation for such music is quite bad? Patrice.

For that matter, does KF Los Angeles actually host any "such music"? I got the impression from glancing at their ads when in Los Angeles that its mostly rock, rap, heavy metal, etc. (anything but jazz or improv), with maybe the occasional nels cline or vinnie goila gig. For example, on the website schedule for february, they list cat power, a tribute to tupac shakur, and ellen degeneris standup comedy - not exactly the cutting edge of jazz or improv music. Maybe a similar strategy is planned for KF paris. Whit.
Patrice.

When the KF was in the procoess of opening, Dorf promised the LA branch would "reflect the music community here, not be some McDowntown franchise." Nice thought, but the rock/pop he presents is largely meaningless or old punks acts who have re-combined as a kind of legitimized oldies act (X being the best example). Also, they money they pay there is sub-basement. Personally, I'd rather see Arto Lindsay, but he doesn't live in Silverlake and he sure doesn''t do crappy jangle rock. Guess he won't be playing the KF very soon. sh http://www.skipheller.com (the new and improved website)
