Re: icp orchestra - susan botti-terminal 4- fire of space
I had a chance to catch the ICP orchestra at their show in ann arbor, MI. Thought that it was excellent, though it was my first time seeing them live, and am unsure as to the set list, though know that they played 'roll 3' and 'on off' the venue was very small and intimate and quite loud, I might add. Where do people recommend someone ought to start out in their catalogue? I'm also wondering if anyone is familiar with any of the following groups as they are playing in the near future at the same venue: "Fire of Space, susan botti, or Terminal 4? I've heard that Susan Botti is doing some interpretive works involving the music of tom waits and merdith monk, and as a tom waits follower, I'm a bit intrigued, though a bit in the dark as to what that might entail. Any advice?
Hello,
I'm also wondering if anyone is familiar with any of the following groups as they are playing in the near future at the same venue: "Fire of Space, susan botti, or Terminal 4?
Terminal is quartet with Fred Lonberg-Holm on cello, Josh Abrams on double bass, Ben Vida on guitar and Jeb Bishop on trombone and guitar. They have two albums on Truck Stop Records (http://www.truckstoprecords.com): _Terminal 4_ and the recently released _When I'm Falling_. I have yet to hear this last one, but the self-titled album was quite good. Musically, it's overall rather quiet and based on simple yet very nice patterns. I doubt it will be extremely different in a live context. Hope it helps, Mathieu
There was a nice article about Susan Botti in last Sunday's Ann Arbor News. (See http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/aanews/index.ssf?archive, "Theatrical music") She is married to Roland Vasquez, the drummer who has done a number of very nice latin-jazz albums/projects, including a big band.
