Hello there, It's a little bit out of topic, but concerning "boots", I happened to record the concert Electric Masada gave in Nancy, France, in last october. That show was very successfull (included in a jazz fest, the place was packed with more than 1500 people - we don't have Tonic here, so a Zorn show is an important event-), unfortunately it happened in a circus tent. Yes, like in the Frank Zappa song about France. So the sound was correct, but far from what could be heard at the Vienne antic theater in July, previous french appearence of E Masada. The music did not really suffered from that, and after a somewhat brutal warm up (Hath-Arob with impro directed with hand signals) the band produced beautiful renditions of a few classic Masada pieces (Karaim, Tekufah....) and two unidentified compositions (a long klezmer-spiced métal piece that would have fitted well on IAO, and a wonderful, mélodic and quiet tune with Baptista and Zorn playing in a "bird language"... the dream of Eric Dolphy coming true). The band was tight and well inspired (even if Ribot seemed not that happy and spent hard time with his broken string changes). Cyro Baptista alone would have probably satisfied the public, musically and visually. The only complain would be the absence of the announced John Medeski. A hammond organ was set up on stage, but the stool stayed empty, Jamie Saft stayed behind his Fender Rhoades. Nobody I recorded the concert primary for myself, but if anybody is interested by it (trade against another non-commercially available recording if you have, or gift in the limits of my possibility if you don't) then mail me privately. But keep in mind this was recorded with good but amateur equipment, and is nowhere as good as any official Zorn recording. Buy Tzadik before sticking to audience recordings!
