Both were reissued in 1990 in the "Columbia Jazz Contemporary Masters" series, and those versions are still listed at Amazon.com for less than $20 apiece. I wouldn't expect them to be re-reissued too soon. Me, I've just rediscovered 'We Want Miles'... Steve Smith ssmith36@sprynet.com NP - Einojuhani Rautavaara, 'Aleksis Kivi' (Ondine)

Kind of a masochistic listen all the way through...
I love parts of that album, particularly "Jean Pierre" and "My Man's Gone Now" (though I like what Shirley Horn did in covering that arrangement on "I Remember Miles" even better).
I'm waiting for STAR PEOPLE to come back in vogue.
Another sentimental favorite, with that wacky drum sound. But my fave Miles album is "Decoy", so opinions may differ :-) n.p. Those are the two tunes on that record I really like myself. Weird drum sound aside (was Miles listening to Steve Lillywhite productions or something?), it's a great record for his playing, just so straight-up and clear. DECOY, for my money, has never gotten its due, even with all that spotlight on Scofield. The most menacing chord progressions ever on that one. sh on 1/16/03 10:05 AM, Joseph Zitt at jzitt@metatronpress.com wrote:

Which gets me to wondering: are there any plans for a box of Miles's 80's Sony studio work? -- | jzitt@josephzitt.com http://www.josephzitt.com/ | | GPG: A4224EFA http://www.mp3.com/josephzitt/ | | == New book: Surprise Me with Beauty: the Music of Human Systems == | | Comma / Gray Code / VoiceWAVE Silence: the John Cage Discussion List |

and, unfortunately both of those versions sound like shit compared to the japanese 20 bit remasters. if you dig those records, try Dark Magus, which is essentially the same material played by Dave Liebman and Azar Lawrence in place of Sonny Fortune, and ANOTHER added guitar player (Dominique Gaumont), with sparkling sound. either that or hunt down the japanese remasters for Aghart and Pangaea. the sound difference is amazing. you won't be disappointed sean
