About Merz: Aqua Necromancer uses samples from many old classic prog albums. Hence the "tribute" aspect, even though it's all quite noisified. Same concept with Doors Open at 8AM: free jazz samples, including a killer version of Coltrane's "Africa Brass Session". Again, super noisy and un-recognizable, but excellent. Oh and one more Merzbow recommendation: Oersted, on Vinyl Communications... really heavy and strong. Good luck finding it though... Just a few quick words about the Ruins (even though everyone seems to have their own opinion indeed): I really like Burning Stone and Hyderomastgroningem even though they're quite different, and samples of Tzomborgha I've heard sounded great, like a better Vrresto. One rarely mentioned is Pallachstom, also good.
