Lurie's show was originally on IFC. The series itself is very entertaining and I highly recommend watching all the episodes (the soundtrack is enjoyable too). BUT, maybe the best thing is Lurie's commentary track. It is hilarious and gives a whole new insight into the series. In other news .. I posted the following message to The Big Takeover list and thought some of you might like to see it as well ... if you're getting it twice, I apologize. Pretty safe to say that everyone on this list loves good music. Some even are rabid collectors, of official releases and live shows... I just wanted to let everyone know that there is a great resource out there for sharing live shows, one that is sorely underused. It is www.archive.org/audio Basically, it is offering to store and make available online forver all the live shows you can upload, provided the artist approves first. That's it. Once the artist gives the OK, let freedom reign! I have no affiliation with this site but just think it is fantastic and should be bursting with shows of interest to all. Yes, for now it is mostly jambands that are participating, but any band can take part... Fortunately a handful of bands discussed on this list are already involved: Spoon, Billy Bragg, Minutemen, Godspeed YBE, Fugazi and more.. and if you get involved and get your favorite band's approval, then that list will just grow and grow... Putting aside JZ's specific stance on live taping, other artists discussed here surely would be happy to have their shows included... If you have any questions (?), feel free to contact me.. _________________________________________________________________ Say goodbye to busy signals and slow downloads with a high-speed Internet connection!
