is not a recommendations because the CD is not yet released, but it's probably a real good work. I know that ANGELICA (an avantgarde festival in Bologna, Italy) is planning the publishing of the CD during Summer. The contents is based on a series of gig of an Eyvind Kang's project composed for the Festival of last year, and, be sure, the live execution was fantastic.
The group speaks by itself: Mike Patton, Tim Young, Eyvind, Dave Moss (I'm not sure about him), some great people from Bologna (my friend Bonetti and Dimitri on violin) and others great musicians.
I asked Mike Patton about this more than a year ago, because I had seen the announcement for the concert in The Wire. He said he participated, but that it was a completely unfocused affair and that the "hippie content" was too high. He also said there were simply too many people involved in this project. But wasn't it also Patton who claimed that Zorn had been trying to release the Zorn/Patton/Mori trio for ages, but that none of the live recordings were good enough to be released on CD...? Frankco
