Re: emmanuelle/film noir/magnolia electric co.
regarding the king crimson soundtrack, a friend tells me that Fripp sued the
filmmakers and either won or got a settlement.

I did a little searching - this was settled out of court. Apparently both Emmanuelle I, and II, contained sections of Larks Tongues in Aspic, performed by someone else. Since the film only used the 'musical work', my guess is that it was settled because Fripp was likely only entitled (legally) to a compulsory license anyway. ( Thanks for all of the suggestions on film noir titles. Especially helpful was the alternate title for 'gun crazy' - i've been looking for this one for ahwhile, haven't been able to find it under the original title, and I was also particularly interested in the japanese titles (I recently finished 'Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World' also previously suggested by someone on this list). I would have to add 'Elevator to the Gallows' as a favorite film noir piece (Miles Davis soundtrack). nathan Still formulating a best of music list. As of right now, I can only say that the one record receiving the most play this year for me was Magnoiia Electric Co. by Jason Molina, or Songs Ohia, or, as he is currently known - (Pyramid Electric Co). n.p. fred anderson - dark day in verona
