What I love and admired about Roxy Music is that it was a band that had many 'strings' attached to other music movements. They touched on glam, progressive, experimental, the great american songbook, fifties and sixties intrumental bands (a touch of the Joe Meek sound), and of course Robert Wyatt and onward. In many ways I always felt that Avalon was more ambient than some of the Eno late recordings. For those who have given up on Ferry/Roxy - go give Ferry's last album a listen - it has a killer/beautiful Eno/Ferry track - and the music is a lot rougher than his 'smooth' years. -- Tosh Berman TamTam Books http://www.tamtambooks.com
