Well, I just got back from doing the tourist bit in Salzburg after the festival. Favourites were : -Billy Bang(Frank Lowe was OK for me!), -Louis Sclavis, -Mephista (Although I think it would have been just as good as a duo without Mori), -Amsterdam String Trio (with no amplification!), -Daniel Humair, -Misha Alperin(with excellent violincello and percusion support), -Roberto Juan Rodriguez, -De Johnette/Musa Suso (great drum/kora pieces). Kind of Disappointed with : -Tim Berne Clownfinger (Sounded a bit like bloodcount with different instrumentation - still good but I expected something different). -Jewels and Binoculars (Good, but these guys can be so much better). -The amount of electronics in use. Everyone seemed to be setting up loops and beats with powerbooks. Maybe I'm just old fashioned! Everything else was OK, with the exceptions of Martin Koller (sounded like a poor rock band), Trio Exclusive (made me think of Ricky Martin for some reason), Fast and bulbous (just not my kind of thing) and of course Sco' ! Hi Peter,Judy and Tim, very nice to have met you. I have a good picture of you all! I'll email you tomorrow. Off to bed now, I'm knackered! Andrew.
