I had the same experience watching Anthrax's Charlie Benante back in the mid 80s. His feet never stopped pumping at mach speed for the entire show, and since I was there with my friend (and current OTEP drummer) Mark "Moke" Bistany (who has damn fast feet himself), I spent most of the show sidestage so I could observe Benante's technique. Also, here was an extremely fast drummer from Boston who played for a band called Wargasm. Anyone know who he is/was and if he's still in the game? I saw morbid angel live last year and this guy doesn't just play fast for 1 min. He did it for 45 min straight. Ok this guy did a million beats in a mintue for a competetion but what good does that do in the real world? I never saw a one minute concert. Also, i believe manowar made guiness book of records for the fast drums in a song in 1991. I could be wrong.
