Great record vinyl stores in Shinjuku. Get off to the East side of the Shinjuku station and head towards your left. You will go under the train tracks and come across a major street. Just go down and follow the signs on the street. There are zillions of little record stores. Most of them are in office buildings - so don't hesitate to investigate these somewhat 'seedy' buildings. Also fun and amusing 'sex' shops too! Have a great record store hunt! It's worth it. -- Tosh Berman TamTam Books http://www.tamtambooks.com

I'd really like to see a wide release of the Flying Luttenbachers' Trauma double lp on, at the very least, compact disc. ----- Original Message ----- From: Chad Stockdale Cc: zorn-list@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Monday, April 07, 2003 1:43 PM Subject: out of print since im relatively new to this list i have to ask this question: if you could have just one lp/cd reissued what would it be? can be any kind of music. np: shoji hano gary smith gary smith gary smith asahito nanjo gary smith asahito nanjo gary smith asahito nanjo gary smith asahito nanjo gary smith asahito nanjo gary smith asahito nanjo gary smith asahito nanjo _______________________________________________ zorn-list mailing list zorn-list@mailman.xmission.com To UNSUBSCRIBE or Change Your Subscription Options, go to the webpage below http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/zorn-list
Derek Bailey, Han Bennink & Evan Parker: 'The Topography of the Lungs' (Incus) A seminal session to which everyone deserves access. Me, I own it on LP, but I'm too lazy a sod to fire up my turntable on a regular basis and don't own a burner, so I'd simply enjoy the convenience. And it's all the more desirable because it will likely never happen, certainly not within the next two decades. Agree! TOTL set up the standard for non-idiomatic improvisation. I listen to it once in a while (I have the same problem as Steve with LP...) and I still find it more original and fresher than 90% of the genre. It is almost as if Bailey/Parker/Bennink not only introduced a new genre of music, but did it in such a way that only micro-improvements (with diminishing return) could be added to the edifice. But I would put Kagel's LUDWIG VAN first (if I had to choose only one CD reissue). Patrice.
I think we could use a comprehensive Kagel reissue program - "Acustica" and "Tremens" sound so interesting on paper, but jeez, I can't spend all day on Ebay. And call me an uptight audiophile, but the name "Dusty Groove" doesn't really make me want to buy LPs there.

Hello, ....over the weekend on Dick Spotswood's WAMU radio show I heard an incredible violin piece recorded in the '20s by Alexis Zoumbas called "Ipirotiko Mirologoi". Spotswood played it from an old '78 and mentioned that it had never been reissued in any form. It really needs to be. The music was this beautifully aching lament that was just riveting. I remain.... Some I've heard, some not George Russell in K.C. (Decca) Got it as a kid when it first came out in about 1963 --think it cost me $3.36 plus tax -- never been reissued. Features first recording of Carla Bley comps and first time Don Ellis recorded with the band. Haven't played the LP for years. Maybe though since Verve now owns that label, it will create a replica reissue of it for some inflated price. The there are things like: Charles Tyler, Saga of the Outlaws Shelly Manne, My Son The Jazz Drummer and some Euro Burton Greene Lps with Sunny Murray I've heard good things about but never heard.
