In the interest of incentivizing purchases via music sampling, I'm offering to burn (data or audio, your choice) CDRs by request of mp3s I have in my collection. The idea is that you browse the list and send me specific requests. A data CDR can hold 120-150 mp3s, depending on file size, of course. Note that an audio cd will consist of uncompressed mp3s of various quality (and contain <74 min), so this is not as great a sampling opportunity, to my mind. But up to you. To keep my workload sane, the requests must be fairly specific, at least down to "a couple from album X" - not "how about 50 free improv tracks". Some rules: - no more than 20% of an album (no album purchase substitution allowed) - no more than a handful of tracks per artist (no best-of purchase replacement either) - lots of "pop hits" requests also disallowed - (live boots or OOP releases excepted from above) - only one CDR per person - any artist or label reading this can opt out by telling me. I know from public statements this includes Ellery Eskelin, so no Ellery tracks. - US domestic or European address preferred http://kargatron.net/mp3/mp3_20030327.zip is a zip file containing a simple text file listing 17,000+ mp3s. It's organized by my particular genre organization - no snide comments on that allowed. :) Almost all the mp3s are ripped by myself from my owned cds, fwiw. They are encoded at various compressions, as my methods evolved over time. Trades are welcome, but I'm mostly doing this out of goodwill. If the requests pile on, I reserve the right to opt out. :) Email: cdrequest@kargatron.net (or just reply) -- Vincent Kargatis np: Amon Tobin - "Searchers" (Out From Out Where)
