Hi, I
really enjoyed ghosts and flowers, but that's just me.
No, no, it's not just you!
I agree, by faaaar their best album ever.
Not to that extent in my case. My favorite is "Experimental, Jet Set, Trash and No Star" but "Dirty" and "NYC..." come really close after.
What about The Ex or Boredoms?? Two of my other absolute favorie bands. In many ways, I concider them pretty similiar to Sonic Youth,
I can't say much about the Boredoms or The Ex. From the latter, I loved they collaboration with Tortoise in those "In the Fishtank" series from Konkurrent Records. Their guitar sound is superb and they're really countundent. If you mix that with Tortoise's elegance (before "Standards" please) you've got a great record. And then there was that album with Terry Ex and Han Bennink. A tough listen for me. I admit I couldn't stand it. Too disperse for my taste, although both are great musicians, of course. What do people recommend as a good starting point for Boredoms and The EX? Thanks in advance. Best, Efrén del Valle

i would have to say that my favorite albums by the ex are "scrabling the lock" which is with tom cora and "too many cowboys" which i believe is the first album with kat playing drums. i don't really know their work earlier than this, but of the albums since '87 these are my favorite. "instant" is also a great album, but is not so much of an ex album, but more collaborations between various members of the ex and (for the most part) ICP musicians. strangly enough this was the album that got me listening to the ex..
