Re: Metal (was: RE:Tzadik/Maya Deren questions)
If you're going to listen to Anaal Nathrakh, make sure you start with the song "Pandemonic Hyperblast", from their "Codex Necro" debut. When I first heard it earlier this year, I was jaded with black metal, after about 7 years of having a particular interest in that scene. That song made me think "this is definitely SOMETHING ELSE", they're definitely unparalleled in terms of sheer brutality. It's easily the most extreme song I've ever heard in the genre. Speaking of Mastodon, look Lethargy up. Lethargy was Brann Dailor's(Mastodon drummer) first band, from before he joined Today Is the Day. It's very technical, proficient grindcore. Definitely precursors to the current Dillinger Escape Plan/Botch style of music. I remember some people talking about the Arkestra communally living awhile back; can any one describe this to me or refer me to such a description? Thanks, Zach
The core members live in a house in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. You call there, the person picking up the phone usually says "Ra house". I don;t get the sense that it's all-vegetarian or anything quite so structured. Also, last I heard, not everyone in the band lives in Philly. Apparently, there are New York and ashington guys in there as well. skip h on 11/18/03 2:54 PM, Zachary Steiner at zsteiner@butler.edu wrote:
