it says on the boxmedia site (boxmedia.com) that it was originally released in an edition of 100 in 1999. i bet there's a good chance it was cd-r's too. i e-mailed brent gutzeit about this a while ago (after seeing it "no longer available" on the website), and he said something to the effect that it wasn't officially out yet and was still being finalized. maybe the earlier edition was just for press or tours or something?

I ordered mine around 1999 or 2000, I think; I got actual CDs, not CDRs, though they were in a plain, completely unadorned blue cardboard double-CD gatefold sleeve (my collection is distant at the moment), with photocopied inserts bearing the credits. Veeeery promo-only. Strictly hardcore! I get sleepy even looking at it. I haven't listened to it in a couple years, but I remember enjoying it, particularly Taku Sugimoto's "loud" piece. -----s np: Phil Spector, BACK TO MONO, disc 1
