I agree there is a tax to be paid. But in the US there must also be a tax, right? Anyway, a 18% tax on the (lets suppose) 12 dollars wholesale price, makes it 14.16 dollars. Postage per CD must be insignificant for large quantities. There is absolutely no excuse... BTW last week I saw "Signals for tea" for 10 euros at a CD shop here in Amsterdam along with some other AVANT CDs... any distributor bankrupted again? I too found some peace of mind when I discovered mailorder already 15 years ago, but still i wonder.... and then thinking how many people dont have a credit card or the chance to go on line... For the record, good selection and prices (relatively) in Europe can be found at www.open-door.de which is not the fastest, but anyway a nice mailorder shop. adios manolis
in the US, you only pay tax if you buy in person or in-state. any purchases shipped outside the state the store is in are tax-exempt, to my knowledge. at least that's what i seem to remember from my retail music days. sean I agree there is a tax to be paid. Don't want tp be too miserable, but in Israel the cheapest Tzadik disc costs more than 22 US $ (99 NIS), but the few shops that hold such discs are selling them at more than 26.5 US $ (119 NIS). I stopped buying discs in Israel, except frpm labels that have regular distribution, mainly ECM, and thus saving a lot of money by ordering them via the net. It is much more cheper to order from your favorite online shop, and much more efficient.
