Being only familiar with Arto's noise stuff, I'd like to get some recommendations on a good CD to pick up that represents his odd bossa nova-ish side. Anybody want to help out here? - Gene Mayes
IMHO "Prize" (Righteous Babe Records - 1999) is a must have CD! Be careful with "Mondo Civilizado" (Bar/None Records - 1997) though it is in that "bossa-nova-ish" style. Hope this helps. Hi, I only enjoy his albums up to "Noon Chill", to be honest. "O Corpo Sutil" is a fine album, very quiet, with some stellar collaborations (Ribot, Baron, Frisell, etc) and "Noon Chill" is good as well, with more electronics that give it a certain distressing atmosphere.
