Interesting news today from Pitchforkmedia.com: Sonic Youth Practice What They Preach Masonic youth recruited at early age, groomed to be presidents, Fork staffers Will Bryant reports: Sonic Youth will be webcasting a live rehearsal on their Echocam this Sunday, June 9th, featuring both new songs from the forthcoming Murray Street and older songs the band is working up for its massive summer tour. Band practice starts at 4 p.m. EST-- bring your 3-D glasses and your Hearos. Pizza party with the Yoof! You can also download an MP3 of Murray Street opener "The Empty Page" from their website, which will give you a pretty good indication of what the album's all about, even if "Disconnection Notice" and Renaldo's "Karen Revisited" are the sheeeeott. Sonic Youth are also set to roll out the first of three expanded two-disc reissues of classic albums this September with Dirty. The tracklist is still a big friggin' secret, but we're told you can expect better than the usual hodgepodge of b-sides, outtakes, demos, and live material most bonus discs chunk at you, with the band personally combing the archives and selecting the material. As previously reported, Daydream Nation and Goo have also been tapped for expansion down the line. Last-- but so not least-- Interscope will be giving Pitchfork readers a nifty little bonus on this month's MP3 sampler. The Murray Street outtake "Coca Neon Kamera Sutra" will be available for download just as soon as we get the green light.
