Well, it is stealing. It's stealing the artist's royalty that otherwise would have been paid if the burned-copy-recipient had bought a legit copy instead.

So it's only stealing if you would have bought a copy otherwise. I spend as much money buying official CDs now as I did before, but I have more music due to CDRs. Seems like a good deal to me.
