When I was making the comment on rock in the first place I made a generally unfair staement regarding the listening habits of some of the people on this list. That was wrong, however what I did notice from the lists that almost nothing offered was current or recently released. That was the point I was trying to make. The listening tastes here are so far afield that none of us are really paying attention to the zeitgeist here. Sure , it's mostly crap, that's what my original point was: Nowadays , if you wanna rock, Tomahawk is probably one of the most attractive propositions. Mars Volta are really good as well, as one person has written and said. There are others, Melvins, Melt-Banana. I have nothing personal against anyone. I am sorry that my inarticulation caused such commotion. That being said, I still find the Foo Fighters/Tomahawk comparison a starnge one. Chalk it up to differing tastes, eh? I don't know how many folks'll agree, but I find a lot of monster redemption of rokk in two "Doom Metal" bands...Electric Wizard and Sleep. My pal Ben bought Electric Wizard's "Dopethrone" simply because the cover has Satan smoking a bong. The record is all detuned sub-Sabbath riffs that are Slow. Not quite Earth 2 Slow, but Slow. Head nodding ensues. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Craig Lieske" <garbageisland@hotmail.com> To: <zorn-list@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 25, 2003 1:19 AM Subject: Rock

I just bought the new Radiohead album, which I enjoy and has been in heavy rotation. I have yet to be let down by a Beck or Sonic Youth album; both have released great albums in the past year. With those few (far from brilliant, I will concede) exceptions, there is mostly crap coming out now. Trust me, my college aged friends have subjected me to enough. I cringe now when a friend says "Hey listen to this!" Zach -----Original Message----- Nowadays , if you wanna rock, Tomahawk is probably one of the most attractive propositions.
