hi, i've been a really big This Heat/Charles Hayward kick lately with my listening habits and I've been trying to track down some recordings. I've heard a lot about the band Camberwell Now but I can't seem to find them listed anywhere. does anyone have any of their recordings or know where to find them? do they exist? any help would be greatly appreciated. and yes, i have tried eBay, yielding poor results. also, if anyone knows someone looking to sell any related records or CD's of these projects, please contact me. thanks a lot in advance, -adam morosky _________________________________________________________________ Click here for a FREE online computer virus scan from McAfee. http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963
Hello adam In the UK, try: http://www.rermegacorp.com/ (search for camberwell using the link up top) The album on Recommended has both of the band's EPs and their lone LP on one disc, and that's everything they recorded, apparently. In the US, I'm not sure where to go. Forcedexposure didn't have it, and neither did cadence/northcount. But I see discs on this label around in stores, so it must be available stateside. You could probably just order direct from RER. also, BTW, allmusic.com has a writeup on the band and album, if you didn't see it already. cheers, whit np - Stereolab, 'Margerine Eclipse' (which I can't seem to stop listening to....) Camberwell Now currently has the one CD ("All's Well" on RecRec Records), which is drawn from material of various releases. I maintain a discography page on Squidco for Charles Hayward and related information, that includes all known Camberwell Now releases. <http://www.squidco.com/rer/Hayward.Charles.html> The RecRec CD is generally still in print, but currently not available - we've been trying to get copies from Europe for the last couple of months. Personal story, not knowing who Camberwell Now was I found the "Greenfingers" EP many many years ago and went nuts over it, trying to find out who they were and what else they had released. Eventually I discovered the Hayward link, which oddly enough I linked with Quiet Sun at the time (being a hardcore Eno fan), which led me to This Heat and then to Hayward's solo releases. philz
