i find it astonishing that David Lynch and Alan Splet (lynch's soundman) did all sound-effects themselves for that movie. it's Lynch's best movie besides The Straight Story IMO.

The Pixies covered it. JZ> As did Miranda Sex Garden.
And Tuxedomoon, on the _Can You Hear Me?_ comp (also on their collection _Pinheads on the Move_); probably the first cover, as it was recorded at the Deaf Club while the initial midnight run of _Eraserhead_ was still going on around the corner at the Roxie. The song is called "In Heaven" and if I'm not mistaken it was written by Peter Ivers.

Lynch has long been a (filmmaking) hero of mine for his attention to sound -- one of the few directors working at that level who treats it as equal to cinematography. Michel Chion's book on Lynch is highly recommended, for pretty obvious reasons. -- Jim Flannery newgrange@talmanassociates.com Life contains terrible things but life itself is not terrible. -- Sean O'Casey np: _Shizuo vs. Shizor_ nr: Kenneth Tindall, _Great Heads_
