i wish i was there to see Zorn but i can't afford going down there. there WILL be mass protests though...it might be trouble actually. i just hope Zorn don't support Ariel Sharon's actions. he's a HUGE criminal. bear in mind, i got nothing agains the Isreali people - i'm not saying someone like Arafat is any better. is it really so that Zorn never speaks politics? has he ever spoken his mind on the situation over there? kevin.
HI, Zorn has stated repeatedly that he's not interested in politics at all. Not even in albums like "Kristallnacht" or his Masada group, so in his case, it would be useful not to mix politics with music, and even less races or religion with arts. Furthermore, Eyal, I've never read or heard anything about pro-Zionism related to Zorn's figure. Cultural Zionism should be something else, I guess. The Israel-Palestine conflict is something so complex, ancient and somehow everlasting that it seems difficult to point at the "real" criminal (politically speaking, that is). It's something similar to the Balkans puzzle. If we had to express an opinion we should probably go back hundreds of years to say something that made a slight sense. "Complex" and "somehow everlasting" are definitely words I too would use to describe the conflict - however, "ancient" it ain´t - it really began "only" about seventy-five years ago with the first Arab riots protesting increasing Jewish immigration. But the Arab and Jewish worlds have collided for centuries, haven't they? I won't argue about this with someone in a History Dpmt. of course! Not really - the Muslim world has been _much, MUCH_ more tolerant of the Jews in their midst than the Christians have - no comparison really. (Which is not to say that relationships haven´t been problem free.)
