So...anyone have any thoughts on the recent shows? I saw the first set last night, which I thought was pretty damn good. Definitely a different feel than the other Painkiller shows I've seen. I'm still somewhat disappointed that Zorn chose to use the name without Mick Harris on drums, but, what can you do. This is the first time I've seen Hamid Drake live and I have to say, I'm tempted to go out and buy every recording this cat's ever played on. I thought he was absolutely phenomenal. Have to ask too - I haven't seen a show at Tonic in a while (only SubTonic) - is this one drink minimum a standard now? I gotta say for the higher ticket shows, that can add up for me at the end of the day when money's tight. Dave
Hello Dave, We were at the first set on Friday. And I have to say it was great as well. As of Hamid, he is one the greatest drummers these days. It is quite amazing how he can fit in any sort of music and be absolutely comfortable, relaxed and in the same time so different. The drink minimum so far is only for Friday and Saturday shows. Hope Tonic won't become Knit2 in trying to get as much money from customers as they could. -- All the best, Peter Gannushkin URL: http://www.downtownmusic.net/ Sunday, September 7, 2003, you wrote to me: D> So...anyone have any thoughts on the recent shows?
