Frank London/radical jewish culture
I quite enjoy Frank London's Scientist at work. Some tracks at the beginning are reminiscent of 70s Miles Davis, then it ventures more toward a Jewish-avant garde feel. By far though, my favorite Radical Jewish Culture cds are by Tim Sparks. That guy is incredible. He's a guitar virtuoso right along side someone like Frisell. He's got a very roots feel, though he constantly borders on "over-playing." I haven't heard his third tzadik release, but his first two are top-notch. I assume that the last one is great as well with the addition of Ribot and Friedlander (plus Cohen and Baptista). Lest we also forget . .. . Yo!
