What was the name of that woman saxist who passed as a man? Seems to me there's a group from the Northwest named after her, something like the Billy Tipton Memorial Quartet?
Thanks for your help.
Martin
Yeah, it's Billy Tipton who performed in Spokane, Washington. Here's a Web site: <http://www-music.duke.edu/jazz_archive/artists/tipton.billy/01/>. The quartet is now more often simply called the Tiptons & according to Jessica Lurie's Web site <http://www.jessicalurie.com/>, they have a fairly recent disc out. -- Herb Levy P O Box 9369 Fort Worth, TX 76147 herb@eskimo.com
