Just an idea: what do you think about organizing a non-profesional music tribute to john zorn? the idea is this: do the same as the anyversary series, a tribute os zorns compositions, but the interpeters are non-musitiens, but people from this mailling list! then we gather the contributions & offer zorn at a show or something to see if we get sued or what? what do you say? thanks anyway for your atention Ricardo Ramos, Portugal _________________________________________________________________ MSN Hotmail, o maior webmail do Brasil. http://www.hotmail.com
i think it sounds like fun (speaking as a complete non-musicican). a few years back the alt-fan zappa folks (or whatever that group was) did a similar thing that yielded some pretty cool stuff. i have to believe there are enough reasonably skilled folks on this list to come up with some fun material. sean Just an idea: what do you think about organizing a non-profesional music tribute to john zorn? the idea is this: do the same as the anyversary series, a tribute os zorns compositions, but the interpeters are non-musitiens, but people from this mailling list! then we gather the contributions & offer zorn at a show or something to see if we get sued or what? what do you say? thanks anyway for your atention Ricardo Ramos, Portugal _

hi all, regarding the Zorn-listers Presents: A Tribute To John Zorn...... i think it´s a great idea; bold to say the least. count me in. I think it´s the first time i address the collective. now, i´m a musician, but interesting enough, i´ve always thought (have a theory about it, !!!!) that anyone is a musician. you see, no matter formal training or the obvious no ¨skills¨ at an instument. For some time now, i´ve been working on jams and others with people who just love music but dont play, and the results are inspiring. A non-musician-musician most of the time has a freedom of choice and will i rarely see on seasoned musicians...it´s a matter of guidance and trust, setting a stimulant and confident atmosphere, and off you go. The possibilities are endless. With a friend we have something called PARANOIR (for not to hear,+/-), where we get together and play, but not as a group communicating, but quite the contrary, everyone has to play as if playing alone, no matter what the other is doing. exactly the opposite as the status quo (jazz, free improv, etc) determines. Amazingly, one communicates, but on another level, it has nothing to do with Noise or else. it´s greater than sex, it´s more free than drugs. it´s a blast. the above said, i repeat my 100% commitment with the Zorn-listers Tribute. I would like to do a cover (maybe in PARANOIR style) of Zorn doing Ornette Coleman´s Feet Music (Spy vs Spy). Yours truly. Damned. --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!?
