Actually, I think that "Naked City" was more than putting two words together. There's a 1948 detective movie called "Naked City" (set in NYC). Something tells me that that might be the inspiration for the band's name, especially considering the movie influences on the first album. Just a guess though . .. I think Hips Road was his record label before tzadik, or the name of him producing.
