Dave Douglas New Quintet
Hello, I'm thinking of going to see Dave Douglas at San Sebastian this summer but I've never heard anything from the New Quintet. I've seen Tiny bells trio and also Witness live and I love them both. Also I love the Charms of the Night Sky CD. So, what can I expect from the New Quintet and from the other concert he's giving? (with Mengelberg, Jones, Bennink) I think I'll go see all three concerts but I still don't about how expensive the concerts are so... Also, if anyone knows where/how to get scores from Masada and other Zorn or Dave Douglas music, it'd be a great help. Thanks! -Jorge /----*----+-| trozo@makasoft.net |---------------------\ | ******* | ESPABILA CHAVAL!! | | *** | http://www.makasoft.net | \--*---*--+--------------------------------------------/
Argh!! You just reminded me that I missed a concert of DG with Charms of the Night Sky yesterday evening in Geneva :'( Did anyone was there to make me regret even more? ;-) - Thierry trozo wrote:

think Miles Davis' Filles de Kilimanjaro, and you'll be more than halfway there. The band is killer; i saw 2 sets a couple weeks ago here in Michigan, and they were fantastic. Uri CAine is amazing on the rhodes, and Clarence Penn is a great, listening drummer. I saw Rick Margitza subbing for Chris Potter on tenor, but he was great. i don't need to say anything about Douglas' playing. go see it. it's the "straight" side of Douglas, but a great, very musical group. sean
