Hi, I think this has been asked about before but in my irremediable appetite for bankrupcy, I'd like to listen to some stuff from the SCG's enormous discography. I know that most of their stuff is Oop or quite hard-to-get. What's the best place to start, limited to available cds? (no lps please!) Also, in which albums is Eyvind Kang collaborating with the SCG? Are these available? Thanks a lot in advance. Best, Efrén del Valle ___________________________________________________ Yahoo! "Irremediable appetite for bankruptcy" - that's the best summation of the hapless record collector I've heard in quite some time. I'm not Mr. SCG, but "Valentines For Matahari" and "Torch of the Mystics" are tremendous. "Jack's Creek" is pretty fun, though I wouldn't call it essential & honestly have no idea if there's been a CD reissue. -Chris np: Numbers "Numbers Life" LP nr: Peter Kivy "Music Alone" At 07:05 AM 2/18/04, Efrén del Valle wrote:

hi efrén, SCG is for me also one of those bands that I wanted to check out since a long time, ... so, last week, apart from some other stuff I bought a copy of SCGs' 'wah' (from 2002). I made one mistake: I didn't listened to it before I bought it....Things start nice with this little wahwah-guitar-bas-drum-piece of happy psychedelic music. But from track two on I got quite disappointed. I find it a boring semi-psychedelic instrumental guitar-bas-drum jamming. For me personally, it lacks originality and the tone-color and melodies are just not doing it for me. I keep thinking: this is done so many times and so many times better. Maybe this psychedelic jamming thing is not my stuff anymore. could also be. I was looking more for the wacko stuff or the field recording-gamelan- weird stuff as mentioned earlier on the list. I'll just keep looking. I don't think I'm going to listen to it a lot. Hell, perhabs I'll try to persuade the shopkeeper to take it back! (I'm such a good customer!) Unless people on this list are interested in trading this one? Thought this experiece could also serve as a recommendation. Bye, Sven (bought also the brand new Chicago Underground Trio, which I like a lot) --- Efrén del Valle <efrendv@yahoo.es> wrote: > Hi,

Wow, thanks a lot Jacky! I was about to order all the stuff available at Forced Exposure (again, appetite for bankrupcy) and "Wah" was among them. I was also gladly surprised by the last Chicago Underground Trio album. I didn't buy it at a recent performance here in Barcelona and now I regret it (it was cheaper!). It sounds really cohesive, like at last something's going on musically. I say this because the concert was one of the most boring things I've recently seen. Jeff Parker was to perform but for personal reasons he was absent, so they forcefully became the trio incarnation. Too bad.
