Imation CDs give me trouble in my car, too. They play, but after awhile this annoying scraping sound becomes audible. I think it gets louder the closer to the outside of the CD you get. I don't know if it is burned CDs in general, Imation, or just that my car is old. My car is a '94, with the original stereo/CD player--designed in the blissful days before widespread digital music piracy. Kelley,
I've been burning CDs on an Apple for about 6 months now and can hear no difference between the original disc and the copies I make using AIFF. I can play the discs with equally satisfying results on my home computer (Apple),work computer (IBM clone using Windows Media Player and, before that, WinAmp), my car, and my stereo system. I have, however, discovered that"Imation"-brand discs will not play in my car or in my work computer. I know nothing, unfortunately, about mpegs.
Best, Tom Bowden
