Fwd: Re: Worst Record ever Made (by someone you normally admire)
Hi,
next installment -- GREAT ALBUMS FROM PEOPLE YOU NEVER SUSPECTED COULD MAKE GREAT ALBUMS!

Although I know it may be dangerous to say this here, i'll have to refer again to Mr. Bill Frisell. I was nicely surprised by his "Quartets" album on Elektra. Probably the only Frisell record I admire, although vaguely. Let's add Björk's soundtrack to "Dancing in the Dark" and her single with the Spanish flamenco guitarist Raimundo Amador ("So Broken"). The rest could be blown up as far as I'm concerned!! And I must agree with the "Mule VAriations" opponents too. Best, Efrén del Valle n.p: Tim Berne "We're only in it for the money"- Unwound Box. My pick for this category would have to be the Aural Exciters' _Spooks in Space_ ... looking at the personnel (it's basically a Ze records supergroup) it should've been *something* but then you realise how unlikely a combination the Contortions and Kid Creole could be, and then you find out that they dealt w/ the cognitive dissonance by phoning in a K-Tel exploito disco record ... and no, none of the "critical reevaluation" of mainstream disco has helped this one yet. -- Jim Flannery newgrange@sfo.com There's no need for us to return to San Francisco at all. -- Michael Moorcock np: Spring Heel Jack, _Treader_ nr: Stel Pavlou, _Decipher_
