Re: FW: Tragic News ...Peter Kowald..
yes, confirmed before i got here and very sad indeed. wkcr was playing him all afternoon and has plans to do same again on sunday. and tonight at cbgb basement will be a memorial for him. last night's birthday concert for roy campbell turned into a beautiful and slightly dizzying celebration of life and death, dedicated to peter and celebrating roy. anyone who didn't know his music, learn it. he was remarkable. i'd suggest the fmp titles 'duos' or 'when the sun is out you don't see stars.' he was not just a remarkable player, but a remarkable man. intelligent, funny, insightful. i bought an fmp cd from him once and then, hours later, he took it back from me to tear out the fmp catalog stapled inside the booklet. he didn't like the way it interrupted the flow. but he did, of course, ask permission. that story doesn't mean much, i suppose, but it showed the deliberateness and the care he gave to everything, from his extraordinarily sensitive duets to making sandwiches at vision. he'll be missed. kurt

Tragic News ...Peter Kowald..I'm usually extremely skeptical about passing on news like this, but the sources appear to be reliable...
Kurt G., you know anything more?
