Re: Satoko Fujii/Ken Vandermark recommendations
it´s School Days in the UK - see http://kenvandermark.com/ Andreas PS: I don´t think Vandermark is overrated. I´ve never seen a bad concert or heard an uninteresting record by him... np: Joseph Jarman / Don Moye - Black Paladins (Black Saint)

Ken VAndermark is also playing in Barcelona with his KV5 next week, which is I assume the show you'll be attending in London.

I did see a really bad concert some months ago. The line-up was Vandermark, Kent Kessler and Paul Lytton and the one that stole the show was the latter. The rest was totally boring and intrascendent. Worst of all, their attitude was awful. They played for less than an hour without addressing to the audience at any moment and came back for a 3-minute encore they could have saved for themselves. I feel like attending the KV5 show next week, but don't ask me why. I don't mean Vandermark is a bad musician. The only thing that annoys me is so much appraisal when there are other musicians [more or less] from his generation who are doing a lot more for music creativity. I understand he's a great support for free-jazz and some forgotten musicians and all the Chicago-stuff, which is fine, but that doesn't imply he's any musical cornerstone while others are struggling to get their albums out on the streets. To summarize: why him? Best, Efrén del Valle ___________________________________________________ Yahoo!
