A few short words about the war, I am admiring any musician who is not afraid to oppose the stupid war against Iraq- Dave Douglas, William Parker or Ani Difranco, as i am admiring any musician/artist- elliot Sharp, Marc Ribot, Marty Ehrlich or Anthony Coleman (all Jews), who is not afraid to oppose the brutal Israeli occupation in the Palestinian territories. Music does not exist outside the real 'messy' and 'political' world, and musicians/artists, who have some influence, can voice their opinions against the futile violence that the coming war of Iraq will bring on us all. If any is looking for a further reading i would suggest the book of the Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Zizek, "Welcome to the Desert of the Real- Five Essays on September 11 and related Dates". I read it in Hebrew so i don't know which publishing house published it English.
