He looked like EdV> the most ego-less musician on earth actually. Tim doesn't like when people are taking photos with the flash and noise which basically irritates the musicians and the audience. He told me once (in fact showed me once) not to take photos during his set, but then when he realized that I do not use flash and my camera is pretty silent Tim even asked me several times to come to his shows and to take some photos. So it is not about the privacy but rather about the intimacy of the shows. In fact, I hate the annoying noisy ignorant photographers probably even more than anybody else. Hope I don't disturb other people myself taking photos all over New York clubs. As of Tim Berne's records, I must say that it wasn't ever easy to me to get into them right away, but this new one of the Big Satan is just blew me away after the first listen. All the musicians are in the best form and shorter compositions makes it easier to digest. Excellent record. And talking about the live shows, the best ones I've seen were the jam with Marc Ducret, Melvin Gibbs, Tom Rainey and Craig Taborn at Tonic and the Clownfinger at JazzSaalfelden 2002. -- All the best, Peter Gannushkin URL: http://downtownmusic.net/
