All: Due to my overzealousness a friend of mine and I both ordered tickets for the May 3 Costello/Mingus show at Bard College (located north of Manhattan). So now we have two extra tickets. Anyone interested in these? If so, please contact me privately. Row G on the side, right on the aisle. (That's row 7 to you and me.) Seats 11, 13. $65 each, and no "convenience" fees! FACE VALUE. Need I remind you that this will be a very unique show? Or that the Mingus Big Band is a world-class outfit and that Elvis has composed lyrics for many of Mingus's compositions? Or that the show will more than likely feature big band arrangements of quite a few Costello tunes? (This might be important to you Costello fans out there.) Not that I'm trying to persuade you or anything, but if you miss this show you'll regret it for the rest of your life. No pressure. Thanks, Tom Concert: Weekend Two: Charles Mingus Orchestra with special guest, Elvis Costello Saturday May 3, 2003 Charles Mingus Orchestra with special guest, Elvis Costello. Admission charged. The Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts. Time: 8:00 pm Location: Sosnoff Theater
hola, i highly recommend miles davis' "live evil" and "dark magus" with the twin scorching guitars of reggie lucas and the great pete cosey. also there is a fantastic cd called "love cry want" (thats the name of the band as well) that is the most fried spaced out fusion youll ever hear and has larry young cookin on the organ. rumor has it nixon ordered this concert thats on the cd (recorded in '72) to be shut down cause he feared the music would levitate the white house. those are my favorite fusion records.
