Some recent Lurie news... I hope he recovers quickly... http://www.nypost.com/gossip/pagesix_u.htm IT'S been a long haul back to the land of the living for Lounge Lizards leader John Lurie. The saxophonist was misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which turned out to be untreated Lyme disease. Now that he's getting proper treatment, "I can actually walk across the street without collapsing," he told Webster Hall curator Baird Jones. And he has motivation to recover. His recent art show at the Anton Kern gallery, featuring paintings from the late '70s when he shared an apartment with Jean-Michael Basquiat, sold out. "It is gratifying to have everything sell out so quickly," he said. "Now I'll have to go and paint some more." That can become a serious illness too if it goes untreated for a long period. I also hope he recovers soon and blows his sax again!
