What the hell happened to John Lurie?
Hi, I was just listening to "Saints" by Marc Ribot (pretty good album), and when the amazing John Lurie composition came, I suddenly realised how long ago it is since I last heard anything about Lurie. He is one of my favorite composers, and a pretty good saxophone player too. Is Lounge Lizards still active? Anybody seen him recently, or know of upcomming projects?? What was actually his last CD? And was "Men With Sticks" actually worth getting? I checked his webpage, and one of the last news updates was the following: "May 2, 2001. (source: Seth) We are sorry that we have not updated the site recently. John broke his ankle and was unable to get to his computer, and the rest of us in the office are very tired. Doctors feel that John may have to be put to sleep. We will all miss him very much." !??!!!!!!???!?!???!!???!????!???? Ciao! _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
well, i haven't heard of any john lurie gig since 1998. the last lounge lizards cd was "queen of all ears". i don't know for sure, but i think it was released in 1997 or 1998. but some times ago i read about a european tour for 2003. it was on the website of a booking agency, but i can't remember the url... but maybe someone else knows more about what he was doing in the last few years...
