Saw this listed on the upcoming/future releases section of Bentcrayons weekly list. Tower lists a 10/22 release date. PAINKILLER/LIVE IN NAGOYA: Talisman CD (TZADIK). "Bringing together three of the most voracious and energetic musical minds in new music, PainKiller was one of the most intense live bands ever. Here they are captured at their absolute peak. Culminating their legendary 1994 tour of Japan in a masterful set featuring one of their longest and most inspired improvisations, the thirty-five minute Batrachophrenoboocosmomachia. Beautifully recorded by the unsung fourth member of the group sound engineer Oz Frith and packaged in deliriously original artwork, Talisman is a long awaited new release by one of the most original and unique sax/bass/drum trios in musical history." I'm happy to see this, now I can hope that one day we'll get get an Archival Series release of Naked City live doing L'eng Che or the 00cd Zorn/Eye box, or..... Jeff

As far as Leng T'che, I've only heard three live performances of the piece: one from an undetermined date from the Saalfelden Jazz Fest that lasts 23 min. and is played as two movements - the best recorded one, which is about as long as the best one from Cologne in May of '92, and then the most commonly traded one from the 9-17-93 early show during the Zorn retrospective that lasts 37 min.(that was also the night they performed the theme from THE LIST OF ADRIAN MESSENGER which is one of my favorite unreleased covers of theirs). Does anyone know of any others floating around?

I have a version of Leng T'che played in Vienna on July 6, 1991. It lasts 22 mn 49 s. Maybe it's the one you speak about (Saalfelden Jazz Fest).... - Thierry

is there a recording of THAT (or any other Goldsmith covers) floating around?
A quick check tells me I have seven Naked City shows on CD where they play Goldsmith's main title theme from THE LIST OF ADRIAN MESSENGER.On the first one,10/20/89 Bimhuis Amsterdam, Zorn makes reference to how the movie changed his life when he saw it as a kid. That's an all film score show where the group is joined by David Weinstein, Carol Emmanuel, Cyro Baptista. If I understand Zorn's remarks, that's the first time for them to play the piece. They also play it during these sets: 11/03/89 Bremen, Germany 12/01/89 possibly Durham 12/31/89 at the old Puck Building in NYC 04/03/90 Manheim, Germany 04/27/91 Washington, DC 09/17/93 the aforementioned early show at the Knit's Zorn retrospective So there are quite a few recordings of their cover of the theme floating around. I have 30+ hours of Naked City shows and there are quite a few I haven't documented setlists for, so I could be missing some. I dig their soundtrack covers more than the Beach Boys, Live Skull, or DNA covers since they stretch into uncharted territory. I don't think there's even a legit CD of Goldsmith's LIST... score out there.
