Other than the 20-year nostalgia rule, I think one thing that stuck out about no-wave was/is how unique it is. It didn't appear from nowhere obviously but it was so unlike other music around it then. Also, the fact that the scene appeared and disappeared quickly meant that it didn't have a chance to wear out its welcome. Thus, a small catalog of this music can be savored and also wondered about.
