I had the pleasure of seeing Ellery Eskelin with Andrea Parkins and Jim Black the other night. I'm sure those living in Europe or New York have seen this band a lot, but it's a rare and special event for Indianapolis, a city with such a dismal music scene. It was obvious that the band was on the tail end of their tour, but they played with intensity--despite the small crowd on a Wednesday night. Artists are not appreciated enough for bringing their music to places it otherwise would not be heard--I commend this band for doing just that. The music was incredible. Thank you for playing Indy; you renewed my (and my friend's) faith in live music here.

Thanks Zach... Indianapolis was a routing gig in the middle of our tour. We enjoyed being able to play a new place. We also did a similar gig at the Southgate House in Cincinnati the night before. We did some longer improv pieces that we don't always do on our other shows...in fact, our Cincinnati gig was completely improv, both sets. 2004 is our 10 year anniversary as a band and we have a bunch of things going on this spring and fall including the Victoriaville festival next month. There's also a new DVD tour diary just out from our last European sojourn. http://home.earthlink.net/~eskelin/10year.html
